Director of popular film ‘Julia’ - Charith Abeysinghe is in London Prison, ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ learns.
He is facing heroin trafficking charges, reports say.
Charith, who was hailed as the youngest producer in Sri Lankan cinema, was referred to by many as ‘Julia’ after the movie.
Charith had invested a fairly large sum for the movie Julia, which was directed Sampath Sri Roshan.
Shooting of the film commenced in UK.
The film was also launched in UK and a media briefing over the event was held ahead of the launch at the Government Information Department auditorium in Colombo.
The HD movie, was edited at the well known Pine wood studios.
The cast included Charith Abeysinghe, Sampath Sri Roshan, Ravindra Randeniya, Sasanthi Jayasekera, Robin Fernando, Veena Jayakody, Sriyantha Mendis, Rex Kodippili, Sandun Wijesiri, Senet Dikkumbura, BandulaSuriyabandara, Teddy Vidyalankara, Nadeesha Hemamali and Harsha Bulathsinhala.
Also, the fact that a young minister had provided two defender backups for the security of Charith during a visit to Sri Lanka also became infamous in the industry.

ReplyDeleteKasun Maddumage, 26, who pleaded guilty to the same offence, was jailed for 18 months. Madhawa Arachchi, 34, and 30-year-old Thurkka Nanisagran denied conspiracy to steal. It is not known what happened to them.
